Evening News
What moved in the market since this morning. Only new news, no repeats.
Optional: This exercise requires Slack MCP for channel-based news sources. If you don't have Slack MCP available, you can still create the evening news skill using only web sources. Adjust the prompt below to remove Slack channel references.
Prerequisite
You need to have completed TC6 (Morning News). The Evening News complements the Morning News — it only brings what is new since the morning.
What will happen
You will create a skill that delivers a late afternoon/evening news digest. It uses the same customizable sources as your morning news, but only brings what is NEW since the morning — no repeats.
Create the skill
Open a new conversation in ToqanClaw (click the +) and paste:
I want to create a skill called "my_evening_news".
Use my_persona for my role and priorities.
This skill delivers an EVENING NEWS DIGEST with only
what's NEW since this morning's news.
NEWS SOURCES (same as my_morning_news — customize):
- Web: The Economist, TechCrunch, Bloomberg
- Topics: [your specific topics]
WHAT TO DO:
1. Find today's morning news post
2. Search for news that broke TODAY (since morning)
from my sources
3. ONLY include what's genuinely new — don't repeat
morning items
4. For each item:
- One-line headline
- Why it matters for my work
- Source name
- Risk or opportunity flag
5. Max 5 items
OUTPUT FORMAT:
Post to my Slack DM:
Evening News — {date}
AFTERNOON UPDATES
1. {headline} — {why it matters} [{source}] {red/green}
2. ...
FOR TOMORROW
{topics or trends to watch tomorrow}
Good night!
Save this as a skill.
Test
In the same conversation, ask:
Run my_evening_news now.
Review the result. Are the news items genuinely new compared to the morning? Nothing repeated? Are the sources correct?
Schedule
Schedule to run every weekday at 6:15 PM (local time), right after the EOD Wrap-Up:
Schedule my_evening_news to run automatically
every weekday at 6:15 PM (local time).
The post should be ready when I'm wrapping up
my day — no need to ask for it.
The 4-skill combo
- 8:00 — Morning Briefing (your internal day: calendar + Slack)
- 8:15 — Morning News (world news)
- 18:00 — EOD Wrap-Up (day review)
- 18:15 — Evening News (afternoon news)
